Property in Larnaca, Cyprus Larnaca, or Larnaka is a city on the southeast coast of Cyprus, usually the first place that visitor’s see as it is the home of the main international Airport in Cyprus. Larnaca is the oldest living city of Cyprus and was originally known as Kition. It has a population of around 80,000 and is the island's second commercial port and an important tourist resort.
The city of Larnaca is well-known for its picturesque sea-front which includes rows of palm trees (oi Finikoudes, in the Cypriot dialect). Much of the activity is centered around the city promenade during most major festivals.
Birthplace of the stoic philosopher Zeno, Larnaca was also the second home of St. Lazarus, who arrived there after his resurrection and later became its first Bishop. The Church of St Lazarus standing in the centre of the town is well worth a visit The tomb of St Lazarus, who is still the patron saint of Larnaca, is under the sanctuary.
